i have a 7'2A blank (thanks clams). not too sure of what to make with it. my quiver is pretty well rounded out right now. thinking a 6'8 egg or something of the sort. a good beachbreak board for when its knee high or so and i don't feel like longboarding or riding my fish.

That's not a great blank for an egg or hull.

What about an '80's style thruster?  If that's the blank I think it is, its a Pat Rawson design and best suited for performance type boards and semi-guns.

it's a rawson design, but us blanks catalog says it's a big fish blank.

Channels made boards go fast in the early 80s.

They give you more speed on a clean faced wave so you can make bigger hacks.
Check out Kong Island for more on what Channels do for surfboards.

Crackie loves him some channels.  For what its worth, probably not a good idea to put channels in the second board you shape.  But that's just me.

I looked at the catalogue and you're right about that blank.  I was confusing it with the old Clark 7'3"A, which was a thicker, highly rockered blank that lots of guys used for semi-guns or beefy thrusters.

That 7'2A blank would make a great quad in the 6'10 range.

The Hot Buttered twinnys that Chappy Jennings & Rabbit Bartholemew have in Kong Island are the most channeled boards I've ever seen.

Been drooling over one of these at a shop in NJ for almost a year.  With that blank, maybe go something like 6'10"x21"x2.5/8".  Although, looking at the catalogue, you could go slightly longer, to 7' and add a half inch in width, too.  But then, I'm larger than your average surfer, so I always think a board is too small.

You can definitely get an egg out of that blank without a problem. It might be harder to get a hull out, but its doable. You'd have to flatten the rocker about an inch to an inch and a half from the center. Since this is board #2, don't do that you might mess up the continuos curve of the bottom. You can get a GB style hull out of it no problem all you do is center the template on the blank and cut away. A lot of foam wasted though. I think either big fish or egg is the way to go.
