  • i need some clarification here (pardon my kookiness). when i'm on surfline or swell info, and it says that tomorrow is going to be 1-3 ft, but poor conditions, does that mean it's not surfable at all or can i still get out there and practice.
i know it has to do with the direction of the swell and the winds, but i'm not sure when to say forget it, or to still get out there and grab the log and have some fun.

    thanks

    thanks

Four main factors go into determining how good conditions will be: Swell Height, Swell Direction, and Wave Period and Wind Direction.

Simply put: Offshore Wind is good. Onshore is not. Short wave period sucks, long wave period does not. Swell direction from the S or SE is good, anything else is not. And Swell height is, well, swell height.  ;D

Next time there's a decent swell, check the buoy readings and you'll figure it out real fast.

Ehh. It's unlikely tomorrow morning will yield anything all that good. If you're in the neighborhood and have the time and feel like getting wet, well, sure - but I wouldnt be making any special trips.
