  • Let me preface this with:

    I dont really care
    and
    I know things wont change

Curiosity and conversations we have had about this situation before are the motivation for posting this.  That and picking at scabs is fun for some reason.

Now that surfline has it super high def cam pointed at NSSS in real time (15 FPS)
Amazing picture quality on the iphone.

Take a look, watch how many people take off way too deep next to the jetty.
More times then most they do not even make it past the group of surfer on the outside.
The group that would have been in perfect position to fully utilize the whole wave.

You can come up with every reason under the sun, but there its..over and over.
I know it wont change, I know it will always be the same paddle around game..

And yes I know there are a handful of surfers that almost always make it down the line
    But the majority don't.

Just putting it out there, now that it is clear as clear can be.

  • they do it because ONE wave in 15 MIGHT break all the way across. the other 14 will suck up into a dredging barrel and THEN closeout. Putting those sitting a bit wider in the perfect spot.
I am wracked with such hearty guffaws, that in addition to rolling to and fro on the floor, my posterior has separated itself from my body.

  • how is this tips and techniques?

    maybe:
    1. learn to pump in the barrel ,or
    2. learn to pump, period, or
    3. wave judgement, or
    4. know when you've lost your benefit of the doubt card, or
    5. know when people are watching and shaking their heads, or
    6. All of the above

  • Or you can put in the time and patience sitting next to the Rock.s  Get a good one race down the line. Only to have to tool try to drop in right when you are coming up from a bottom turn. Thanks fr ruining that section kook! What people need to do is learn to look down the line before they push the lip down on someones wave. I'd rather sit and wait for a good one next to the rocks then try and battle with the shoulder crew. Sorry. I know most of them close out. But don't care cuz I know a good one will come.

  • Frakky for you maybe the technique works.
Ill say no more on that..

But it def does not seem to be working for the crowd out there now.
Not as far as I can see.

I see no one "waiting for a good one"..
All I see is a lot of wasted waves

You'd think a handful of guys could get together a form a line up huh?

    Not going to happen....ever.

  • Ha! Lineup? There is nothing that resembles a lineup out there. People will snake, burn paddle around you. It's amzing the sense of entightlement   that they Think they have. . They will just paddle inside you. Even people I have never seen in my life. Then just blow every wave. It's horrible. If there's waves this weekend I'm surfing somewhere else. It's getting redicoulous!

Are you saying anything to the people that break the wave in front of you? If nothing gets said to the bunch of idiots that are mucking up that lineup nothing changes. crackie said something to a guy who paddled up the face in front of him forcing crack to straighten off. The guy tried to justify and I backed Crackie up. the guy got the message. You know if you say something and somebody starts coming with excuses or self entitlement i'll back you up too. If you did say something today, I was out of earshot since I was looking for the waves that swung wide or  the one's that did have section/peak shutting the jetty wave down {a lot of them} and i wanted no part of that mayhem for a wave that was sectioning off more than half the time.    Doing a 1.5 hour pre-work session? I'm not waiting for the one and hoping someone doesn't muck it up.

that's positive thinking there.....seriously you really think it's impossible?
maybe in summer, but with the number of people out there right now i do not see it that way. people have to say something to idiots, then others nearby back them up. we've been over this.

I think if it was you me and Frock, then maybe ...
As a general rule when ever there have been more then 4 good surfers then: no

With this new HD iphone app you can even tell Whos'who.

I watched one dude just blow wave after wave.  He would make it to his feet just fine, he def had some talent.  But then he would be waaaay to deep.  No pumping or anything else was going to make it happen..Get caught by the lip..turn around and paddle right back to the end of the jetty...repeat.

in that case you sit where I was and GO. i was catching the ones people weren't making and i only burned one guy {what's his name? on a longboard who lives there now, nice guy}. all other times they were well out of the game before i dropped. if good surfers want to take off and not make wave after wave? that equates to a kook who isn't making waves either and they {as snaggle put it} have lost their benefit of the doubt card. if they happen to make that wave finally when i have dropped? i say sorry but after seeing you NOT make 2-3 of them i figured i'm not wasting anymore waves.

anyway that's not what i was talking about so much as people crushing sections and such.
