We get some bugs but its not too bad because we put birdseed out. The finches live off bugs. Actually a bunch of the birds go after the bugs... One bug problem I;m conflicted about is the caterpillars. They farking killed my Dill. But still, I can't kill those little buggers, I just chuck them in to the church next door. Lately I'm been chucking harder and harder. Boyeee eat something... You should eat the Caterpillars, BBQ them up with some aguacate. mmm.

i chucked them in our neighbors weeds but they always come back. they really like dill. so now i have a sacrificial dill plant. i just pull the caterpillars off of the other dill plants and put them on the sacrifice. so far it works. they get too full and lazy to go back to the other plants.

So I got to check out the waterfalls last night on my way home. I'm not sure why but I kind of liked it at night. I'm not sure about the whole event ordeal so far but it was interesting with the lights, kind of dramatic. The key is not seeing the structure behind it.
I still want to get a closer look but it might actually work for me. Let's see.

Gonna walk over to the Seaport at lunch to see what I can see.
I don't care what ya'll think, the public art installations that I've seen have been bold.

I agree with Crackie, its big its bold..Its simple.
Unfortunately I believe that we are about to see see of the last great big public funded outside art installations. The generation coming up after us has different values..Im not going to denigrate what the next generation sees as art (tagging, nostalgia based style, and goof-ball humor). I enjoy some of it, but I don't see anyone in that camp saying "Ya know what would be cool, building a 120 foot waterfall under the bridge"
I hope Im wrong

i haven't seen "New York City Waterfalls" in person but i also have not been that impressed by photos or video that i've come across. i really LOVED "The Weather Project" by the same artist, Olafur Eliasson. the installation at the Tate was really stunning with the documentation not doing justice to the real thing. people lounging about in this darkened cavernous room (the main hall of the Tate) illuminated by an artificial sun as if it were a city park... really lovely and effective. unfortunately i don't feel the same way about this work.
