I was quietly told today that I am no longer allowed to wear flip flops on casual Friday....
I kid you not.....
I have been working here for just under 2 years. I have worn flip flops every Friday unless its snowing....
This is a big deal.... I think its discrimination, females are allowed to wear them...
Should i have sex change? I dont "wear shoes"

Start wearing womens shoes and see what they say. When they say something, ask them is they are aware of the sexual discrimination laws in this state and federally.

i think such cases have been brought and successfully argued. question is do you want to take on the issue - how important is it to you or is it the principle?

Not incredibly important. But I was taken back... The issue came down all the way from the President of the company.... I really think the issue is its not fair that girls can wear flip flops and I cant... I had the same issue in high school with a gym teacher. He wouldnt let me play softball wearing flip flops, I let him know one of his female students was also wearing flip flops.... (he then didnt let either of us play) |

Its kinda like how girls can wear nice "cool" dresses on a hot summer day, but men can't wear shorts. To work that is.

If women are allowed to wear them then there is no way they can say you cant. If you cant then they have to tell everyone not to. I would take your cell phone, snap pix of the gals wearing them & talk to HR. Its only fair. If you were the only one & its kinda stuffy then I'd say hey they own you but since they allow others its not cool.

Wearing flip flops to work are annoying, they make that annoying flip flop sound around the work place. They look outta place except for the beach. I hate seein guys or girls with flip flops on takin the subway, thats gross. Rat fumes and floating rat sh*t particles and whatever else lives down there. Plus the streets of NY alone are a bacteria and parasites dream. EWW! Tourists in flip flops on Canal ST.ewWW!!

And you can still eat at Appetito!? I heard they use freshly used flip flip scrapings in their dressing.   |
