  • what are you thoughts on having ashtrays posted up on the boardwalk? Cigarettes are the #1 trash item, hands down. Do you think ashtrays will make a difference if put up in Rock? Do you think going a step further and banning smoking on the beach and boardwalk is a step too far?

    Thoughts?
CAUTION: Contents under pressure. May cause irritation. Keep away from children. Do not expose to extreme heat or cold.
    Wash thoroughly after handling.

  • I'm genuinely curious - would smoking restrictions on boardwalk and beach in any way be enforced?  Thanks for asking box- and for any insights.

  • Cigarettes are a touchy subject for me, they really piss me off, a lot. For the beaches I say ban them, if it was up to me I'd make it illegal everywhere. The ash trays are a great idea thogu. I feel like cigs for most are second nature for people to just toss on ground, at leats with the ash trays it wouldn't be every smoker

Touchy for me, too. It'd be great to ban them from the planet. Lost too many friends and relatives to them already, and seen too many people I care about a lot have their quality of life robbed wayy too soon. But since I can't ban them from the planet, I'll settle from keeping the remnants off the beach to whatever extent we can - so yeah, I guess I'm for ashtrays.

  • My girls made ashtrays a few years ago and we hung them on the boardwalk in front of the benches.  Not sure how much of a difference it made but people did use them until they were taken down.

  • Casey, those were great.

I think the way to deter beach smoking is to give smokers tickets for flicking their butts.
So heavy you can't even pick it up.
