  • So I know that Box has let everyone know that the dude from LB wants to open a surf school in Rockaway. I have not seen that thread but heard about it. So I hope I am not repeating what she has said. This is an open RFP (request for proposal) which means ANYONE can get in on this idea. I know Frank has been running a successful surf school for a while here in Rock-underground. But this guy has been talking to Jill at the Parks Dept. And my informant told me herself and Jill (neither who are surfers) have suggested closing down a swim beach for a few hours for this maybe around 59th Street. Let me know what you all think because this is not a done deal and I can report back to them. And if anyone else wants to get involved in this proposal now is the time. If anyone knows Frank's number call him and tell him. He could make his business legit. And hire surfers from Rockaway to teach. Keep it local.

  • I feel that all beaches east of "the buildings" should be surf at your own risk so, if someone can help facilitate that I'm all for it.
So heavy you can't even pick it up.

  • I gave Frank a call.
I respect the way Frank teaches.

    Small groups
    Out of the way
    Local guys helping
And over all a nice dude.

If the LB guy comes from the same BIG surf school in LB, then we know what Chaos that causes.

  • Here's a link to that thread:

Be great if they open up a beach to deal with this. Definitely a step in the right direction.

  • Frank by the way was very grateful for our help.
He is by the way a legit business with insurance.
Jammy he is often looking for teachers to help him out, and to cover when he cant take a group (or the group get too big)

Give him a call, I have his number if you want it, let him know you know me.
