Bars Midtown / Westside? Any ideas?

    • Want some tips on some good bars in the area, maybe w/happy hour but not necessary.

    Sister is in town & we want some martinis.

    Between 5th & 8th and 44th to 57th

    Any ideas?

    • King Cole Bar St. Regis Hotel 2 East 55th Street.  Your sister will likely be ok, but you are gonna have to clean up a bit first.

    • I'm not kidding, but the Westin hotel bar up on the 2nd floor at 43rd and 8th is decent.  It's quiet, they have a good snack menu, serve nuts and cockrtails, what more could you want...

    • if she want something 'civilized' there's also Marseilles (maybe 44th/9th?), Un Deux Trois (between 6th - 7th, maybe 44th), the Westbank (42nd just west of 9th) -- all restaurants with a decent bar area.  Also Bar Centrale up above Joe Allen on 46th - restaurant row.  Raw bar/cocktails type thing.  Have fun!

    I read in 1986 in Flash Art magazine about a famous Italian painter doing a mural for a bar in midtown, I have been looking for it every year since then & I finally found it!!!!

    Stunning! Immaculate! Breathtaking! Gorgeous ambiance! I am in love with a bar!!!!

    My old midtown/west spot was the Collins Bar at 47th on 8th, but they closed.  Its a shame.  Great drinks, divey, but not gross, top shelf booze and a great juke box.  Now its gone.

    My favorite little irish bar around that area is deacon brodies
