Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaa!   I FINALLY got some fun waves on my shortboard!!!  It's a 6' white natures shapes, great board.  I've kinda had it for a while but didn't ride it too much because I would get frustrated.

Today was perfect, light crowd, smallish 2-3 foot shorebreak-ish wave perfect for a shortboard.  I took it out thinking hey, I"ll just paddle around and if I get a wave, great.  If not, ok.  So I paddled for a bunch and missed (I'm used to a 7'8" super floaty funboard). Finally one set up perfectly and I dropped into this great backside wave.  Then the next wave I got was a nice right...dropped down, rode it for a bit then as it closed out I did my best approximation of an off the lip (it probably looked nothing like that, but it felt great lol) and turned into towards shore.

I was so happy I practically sprinted back to my car  Grin  Now I've got my confidence, so my goal this summer is to really get this shortboard dialed.

Thanks guys...I had ridden it before, but this time something just clicked and felt right.  Still have a long way to go though!  It's a bummer that the current wave forecast is pretty much nil

I like the short boards.  And the short boards are starting to like me.  Although, I've still never ridden a thruster - - only singles and twins.  I think I'm going to stick with that approach for awhile.

Yeah Short board stoke for sure, I had a fun week before the trip to SD on my quad & hurt my knee so I took my 6'0 fishy on the trip. It couldnt have been a better board to bring with me. Very forgiving on an injured knee. cant wait to get on that Quad again tho.

So if I ride a twin with my left foot, and a single with my right foot I'll be getting the same performance dynamics as riding one thruster with both feet?  Weird.  I would have never guessed that.

That wasn't me, that was Jeff Anthony.  I was standing next to Psycho while he was filming it.  It was, however, the same day that I got hung up on the sticks by my crotch.  Yeah, fun.
