  • Haven't heard much lately about them. Anyone still riding them? Which models? What conditions? How do they go?
Anybody ride one in bigger waves?

  • I was thinking about this the other day, ed, when I saw someone selling one. Perhaps afterwhat appeared to be an initial love affair for many, the thrill is gone?

  • just got a 5'11 taj. board effing rips. the flex feels sooooo good and you can push it so hard through turns and keep your speed. waiting on some pc 3's i think they will work better cause i got pc 5's on it right now. i think im gonna be getting a few more firewires for sure in the future. ive ridden it in waves from waist high-a couple feet overhead an barreling and the board is perfect and so fast. im pretty conservative in terms of board technology and have only stuck with normal boards and was pretty set on that so this was the first time i ever got a new technology type board and it was def a good idea

nick rozsa in hawaii on a firewire
    NICK ROZSA IN HAWAII

check out most vids on youtube of nick rosza almost all hes riding a firewire, and of course taj. i def recomend them. good customer service too. my friend just buckled his after only having it for the summer and firewire hooked him up with one that was used only for a week at most in costa rica for 200$ instead of making him pay 800 for a new one. board literally did not even have a pressure ding on it and was brand new

  • I still have my 6'4" Alternator. I won't sell it because in the right conditions it's magic. The right conditions being decent to good waves with not over 15mph of offshore wind. It's fine in light onshores and medium offshore wind, fast and loose, a real section maker. I've ridden it in over head waves and I'm good up to about a 8 foot face on it. I did find it pretty squirrelly one day in NJ when the barrels were sucking out pretty fierce and it was over head, but bear in mind part of that is the shape {squash tail with bump is loose}, and then factor in I'm not any kind of pro level guy who can just deal with really loose/light/short board when things get bigger and hollower. I was way more comfortable on my backup I brought that was a Arakawa 6'6" round tail.

Maybe a longer step-up type {round pin} would be good for size, but bear in mind the lightness factor. So if it's windy, like hard side offshore.....

I was thinking Dominator in 6'6". You ride yours as a quad? Is it your everyday board or a once-in-a-while board? What's the range of waves you use it in.

didn't I see some other skinny dude riding your board with a sticker on it?

I thought it might have been gothamsurfer after massive lipo suction, but seriously, someone would die if they had that much sucked out of their body....so who was riding your board Steff?

  • been riding a 6'2 alternator now since they first came out. don't know how long its been. prob. about 4/5 years.  the board still looks new and rides new.. won't go back to poly. rides fast and is super responsive. tried riding my rnf and it feels terrible under my feet. i ride it in everything.  it went nicely in the waist high stuff last sunday and went ridiculous the mon. after bill...  8) 8)

i went from the pc-5's to the k2.1 pc. the k2.1's ride better and and release a lot easier

  • Just picked up a brand new 6'0" round tail flexfire at the FireWire factory in San Diego. It's really a distribution center and US operations with a mini factory. Got the grand tour. Absolutely amazing all that goes into the construction of these boards. They should be asking the same price as Aviso for the amount of work that goes into each board. Got to see a few prototypes, team riders' boards and some of Chuy Reyna's interesting personal tweaks. They have some big things in the pipes. Keep watching Firewire. They're only getting started.

  • I've got the same board as loose and like it a lot .  same kind of comments.

i'd really rather have a slightly different shape but same materials and technology.  hopefully there are more choices by the time i think about ordering another one.
