PU board ding repair with epoxy resin as g

I'm looking to get away from using the toxic polyester resin for ding repair. I have read you can use epoxy resin on PU boards, but will the repairs come out just as good? is there anything I should be aware of. In general I like working with epoxy; it's a little thicker to start with and sets slow and consistently.

You got the basics from what you wrote. Set up is way longer, like 2 hours before the resin stops moving. This fact kinda pisses me off because I got used to cheating with PU resin. If you have a tricky spot that you want to fill quickly you make a hot batch and the PU resin sets up in 10 minutes. You can't cheat epoxy. And you can't use the quick dry epoxy stuff you get at the hardware store. It's not the right material for surfboards and it sets up and turns yellow. So you're stuck with the official Epoxy surfboard repair stuff..

  Do they have epoxy sun cure??

You have to really scuff up the area around the ding so that the epoxy will stick to the polyester that is on your board now. Sand it with 50 grit. UNCLE is right, the 5 minute epoxy turns yellow.

I stick to PU resin on pu boards and avoid contact with epoxy... That's my way of dealing with epoxy. But look into the post from seb70. That might be the ticke. I have yet to read it.

If you start fixing your PU board with epoxy and then try to ever fix it with pu resin again, you're gonna have super issues getting the PU resin to work over or next to any old epoxy repairs...

Plus... PU resin give you a good Buzz!!
