I take it from your sarcastic tone that you don't think it possible for a 270 pound gorilla to huck giant airs.  Well, you are incorrect, SIR!  You should see me bust airs and throw buckets with my 7'6".

Beg pardon sir. I was under the mistaken impression that airs and bucket throwing were not things of interest to you.

Wrong again!  Look at the big man throw buckets sans tailpad!  Full disclosure, I fell immediately after that shot was taken.  Perhaps with a tailpad, I would have been able to bring the board all the way around, make the section and bust a madcrazystupid air.  Smiley.  (sorry for the threadjack jscott)

I also thought it would help with duckdiving..apparentlyt I suck at duck diving too..
Does give one's foot some purchase on the board.

He has already bought the board.  How else would he be duckdiving the board.  Sheesh!

Purchase? pe'shaw! my friend I traded for it!

I think he was using "purchase" as a noun.

Re the tail pad, I dunno if you need one for the widowmaker. I don't have one on mine because I usually use it in bigger/better waves (like you'll probably be doing as well) where you don't always wnt to be so far back, when your going down the line. A regular shortboard is a whole different story, because you're turning with so much weight on your back hoof.

They do help with duckdiving, but with a generous coating of wax it really ought not be a problem.

I think your real problem is that you've never duck dived before. Same way I am awful at turtling a longboard because I never use em in decent surf and have zero practice.

Nah.  It's a 7' something pintail, but wide, like 23".  Local shape by Tom Eadon of Cosmic Bull Surfboards in Bong Ranch, NJ.  Kind of a performance funshape, I guess you'd call it.  Or a fungun, or whatevs.  Its a great board.  EPS w/epoxy resin, so its real bouyant.

I wanna see a 2 man heat between America's Biggest Lawyer and either Gotham or Frock. It'd be like Gulliver's Travels.

More like David and Goliath.  I'm an easy take down and not a very good surfer.  Both those guys got chops.

I also thought it would help with duckdiving..apparentlyt I suck at duck diving too..

The board is a little thick with a full nose so it isn't the easiest to get under.  I suck at duck diving too, but getting better.  That's why I kept the thinner one with a tail pad.

I took the board to a shop and got a tailpad that would fit as far back on the board and still clear the leash plug and the red-x fin holes.  I was willing to cut the pad to get to the fin holes so it didn't matter to me.  I can take a photo of the one I have, but I have no idea the model.

How did the board ride?  By the way, if you want different redx side bites, they pop on ebay a lot on the cheap.

Glad you like the board.  Once I clean up the other ones....it's on.  I want to ride the swallow tail gunny board in some juice.  No stomp pad for me.....maybe just grow a retro gerry mustache.
