I think I support it and not because its a good idea or they have the right to.

I was watching a comedy routine the other day. The comedian (wish I knew  his name) started making fun of protestants for few minutes. Then decided to be fair he would move on to other religions Catholics, Jews, Hindus. (paraphrasing) Then he said "now for Islam" and paused. the entire audience sat stone quite. He went on "Did you feel that. Everyone's asshole just got tighter."

The point is we need to stop treating them with kid gloves if we ever expect them to fit in with the rest of the world.

As far as this case of lunacy goes, I don't support burning anything on this simple preschoolish premise: Two wrongs don't make a right.

If you truly believe that building a mosque near ground zero, while technically legal, is just wrong and shouldnt be done, then
burning the Koran, while technically legal, also has to be considered wrong, and just shouldnt be done.

Another preschoolish adage applies: Just because you can do something doesnt mean you should.

the ironic part is that the "pastor", Terry Jones is getting so much attention. He's a loser nobody with about 30 "congregants", who's been investigated by the IRS beacuse he also sells furniture out of his "church", abusing its tax exempt status. Add to "loser" and "nobody", "patethic, entitled, narcissistic" and "coward". To me "coward" is most apt, beceause he's gonna have his little bbq, and its gonna stir up a shitstorm which will only make him more famous. General Petraeus himself has commented that his actions are going to get Amercan soldiers killed. If Terry Jones wants to accomplish something, I say load him in a helicopter, go up to 1000 feet in Afghanistan, and drop him on a suspected al queda hideout.

Splat, everybody wins.

very well said.  Within both religions there are wackos and the media chooses to show and portray them as a representitives of an entire faith and its just not true on either sides.  I go to church every sunday and have never though about burning a koran or a torah or whatever.  If anything I thought about checking one out.

I've been resisting posting in this thread for the same reasons Dr. Thorium expressed so eloquently.  I will note, however, that in addition to Pastor Jones, I would also use as ordnance the executive producers of every network and cable news program that foisted this "debate" upon us and used Pastor Jones' wingnuttery as an apologia for their having provided a platform for the irresponsible demagoguery of people like Newt Gingrich.  I would also use walking cadaver Harry Reid as ordnance.  Because he is a pathetic coward.  fark it, I would really kill just about every single douche who's opened his mouth on TV about this issue.  But that's just me. 
 
Thanks for the link seacliff and frakk.  Good stuff there from Linkins about the absurdity of how this "debate" has been framed.  If I still worked in TV, I'd probably be calling the suicide hotline right about now.  Its goddamn pathetic. 
 
The Times had a interesting piece today about the muslim prayer room in the Twin Towers that really illustrates just how stupid this whole "debate" really is.
