Friday Surfing Earl - Where to surf around NYC area ?????

  • So I'v just moved to the city, with my board....
    Iv surfed big, but have never surfed hurricanes..
    With Earl, where's a place that can handle the size and wind??


    Anywhere nearby thats protected?? and public transportable??


    Appreciate the help!

  • Earl is going to be tricky, Daniel, and anyone who tells you that they know where it's going to be better or best is either god himself or lying through his or her teeth.

    Best bet - go to where you've been before and have at least some knowledge of the local break and hazards - and do NOT paddle out if you're uncomfortable doing so. It's one thing to test your limits, it's another to put your own life and others at risk. Know your limits!!!!

  • Surfnli....i disagree, I think Staten Island will be working much better.  Just jump on the ferry in lower Manhattan.

    Catch the wrap around into Hallett's Cove - right there at Hell's Gate....these maps are a little old and I havent been there in a while, but I'll bet it's still working on the right swell......  ;)
