- Went out to the *permanent spot at Long Beach, NY*. It was crowded Sat and Sunday.
- Curious as to whether the rotating beach spot was as crowded or more. (PM me if you've got some insight...suspect it's probably more kooky?).
- At the permaspot, I'm not sitting in the pileup of kooks, but I'm not quite right by the jetty either. Anyway - in the middle. Good enough spot to be.
- My theory - let a nice wave come in to clear out the guys by the jetty, paddle into the spot, catch the wave behind it. Brilliant, I know Wink but got some nice rides. Still a bit too crowded though - trying hard to stay out of the way (especially after a crappy ride, and landing bit too close on the inside.
- Was in the middle - was cool not to be dropped in on, or at least, be on the same wavelength (pardon the pun) with the other guys - ie. some traffic control.
- As for the pileup - glad I'm not there. (I don't get sitting in the water for hours (or standing, for that matter), without paddling.
Dumped the wetsuit, which was great, paddled out past the newbie pile. Tried to be respectful, right? I let a series of nice waves go, and nobody went for it. NOBODY. After that, I basically just went for it, and it was great.
- Easily got the longest rides I've ever gotten, shooting straight across.
- I'm sitting at my desk.
- I'd rather be surfing.

a little bit of planning and a little bit of watching set you free, my friend...glad you scored some fun ones.

I'd rather be surfing, too.  Undecided
