Stay in the Poipu area.
Bring a shortboard and surf acid drops.
Bring some fins and bodysurf in front of Brenneke's.
Travel west past Wailua and catch the SW beach breaks.
Check out Waimea Canyon for sure.

Perfect stuff... will focus the research. How'd you find the lineup vibe in summer? Thanks EZ

Basically, you'll only get souths/SW swells that time of year. If you're respectful, you shouldn't have too many problems. Remember school's out and those boys WILL make their sections so don't even think about dropping in or be prepared fo' deal with "da braddahs". When you need to get away from the crowds, head out past Wailua and find yourself a sandbar. You can literally have a sandbar all to yourself-there I've said too much.
As far as crowds? Well, I hate them and avoid them at all costs. I almost always paddle to the less crowded spots(it is here where I have caught the biggest and best waves of my life in clear view of overcrowded lineups). But, living on Oahu, I deal with some crowding and almost always manage my share of waves. I mean, just like anyplace else, surf off to the side for awhile before hitting the main peak.
