  • watch the weather. get some collapsable ski poles to hike with. comfortable backpack with board straps. it's about 2 hours to hike in, then about 40 minutes or so to the top of the face for each run. start really early & bring food. pretty fun times. a bit crowded on a nice weekend, but worth it. also some good backcountry on the back of stowe & jay.

  • If you are thinking of going in the spring, don't. Think stincoln on a july saturday, you and 700 of your closest friends. Check out gulf of slides next ravine over. Just as good, no crowds

Possibly the understatement of 2010, right there.

  • I've never done it, was weathered out 3 years in a row when I planned to go back in college.  The place has its own weather patterns.  At the moment it is pretty low on my priority list (fortunate enough to spend a bunch of time out west), but one of these days I'll hit it up.

I have friends that ski it in the winter, however yee entruder beware!  The highest wind speed recorded on land was on the peak and a record for many years...something like 238 mph.....think the record was broken in the past 1-2 years on Everest.  You need to be backcountry savy if you plan to go in the winter, and still need to monitor the weather come spring.  The link below should help some, good luck!
