  • hey there -

so i am in palm beach for a couple of months escaping the cold and trying to work on the "older wealthy" crowd down here.  i am planning a trip to p.r. march 8 -15., my first one.  believe it or not, i have to fly out of different airports here to put the ticket below 450.

i can go to orlando(3 hours from palm beach) and fly to san juan, on jet blue for 215, but i still have to get myself to rincon, which i have never done and don't know how difficult that is.

i can fly out of orlando (1 hour from palm beach) to aguadilla, on spirit for 99, but i have to leave at 11:30 pm, arrive at 2:46 am and leaving is crazy hours also.  this airline is crazy cheap, i have read reviews, which run the full spectrum.

has anyone flown this super cheap airline?  can you tell me what is up with them?

    thanks

    p. claire

  • Call the airline, make SURE they accept surfboards - some airlines are flat out refusing to even take them.  :-\ :-\ If they accept them, then hit the $99 flight and go - but be forewarned, it will likely cost you as much or more to get your boards there as it will to get you there!

As far as where to fly in to: I'd avoid flying into san juan if I could - it isn't a hard drive to Rincon from there - but it's a long one - figure on a couple of hours. MUCH better to fly into aguadilla.

  • We flew my grandmother down and back from Boston to AC on Spirit Air for 80 bucks round trip.  They hit her for $25 each way for her suitcase.  She said it was nice, but they charged for soda too.

Look online for the coupon codes.  The one we typed in was something like "50OFF".  We should have typed in "FREE".

p.s.  the drive from San Juan to Rincon is easy.  Main highway and less than 2 hrs (i think).

  • nj longboarder, thanks, that is what i needed to hear, that some one has actually used it.  i think that might be the best bet for me.  less travel to and from the airport stateside and actually cheaper than jet blue with fees and everything.

i will give folks an update.

  • I flew with them once from AC to LA.  It was not a good flight either way.  Got stuck at the terminal for 2.5 hours because they didn't have one of those ramps to connect to the plane.  It just seemed too cheap.  Planes seemed kind of old too.  It's probably fine, but its definitely a low end affair.
