  • Crowds can be an issue, but I've never had a problem getting waves at any spot. I've been there for winter and spring breaks and winter definitely seemed to be more crowded. That said you can get some spots to you and your friends if you go at the right time to the right spot. And in the end, yea crowds suck, but the water is so warm and the waves are always fun regardless of how many you get.
    Peace,
    Kyle

  • If you can get down to Rincon, there is a car rental place near the Econo. Not a chain, local guy runs it. I'm guessing they won't worry if you are under 25.

In Rincon, Pelican Jim's could be in your price range. Not dirt cheap - $99 a night - but both the two units have multiple beds, so it'll be cheaper for everyone if you can get a few people together, and you can walk down the hill to Pools and Sandy.

  • It depends where in Rincon? The Sandy's area is considered Puntas, if you like to party thats the area to be. If not it can be ok. There is a couple of breaks within walking distance. If you stay down the hill.   Most likely if your solo and walking with a board someone will pick you up. I usually do if I see someone solo.

When people say it sucks usually they mean up north is better. Which it is since it picks up more swell. I started staying up north in the most recent years for this reason.

Looking for cheap eats I would say definitely check out Happy Burger for the tacos and the road side stands are cheap and very good.

I think you will be fine. What dates are you gonna be there?

  • Sound slike you are up in the hills; just a word of warning if you plan on walking to the beach.  The dog problem has gotten to the point where they are packing together and attacking people no joke.  I was just there and heard two stories of this happening.  Last thing you want is to be bit by a stray . . .  well close to last anyway.

  • short cut to domes is a trail that starts at pools.. sacrafice quality for quantity.. if winds are right east of sandy beach can be redunkulous.

this is very true. the short walk to sandys adn taht little stretch i would have to go through a pack of dogs that were really territorial. most would run away if you yelled at them but 1 or 2 would be nipping at my heels after the first time i started bringing a stick with me down that walk. i would have to poke the dogs to keep them at a safeish distance
