Couple places on jobos or shacks beach, can't think of the names off the top of my head. I'll ask my dad next time i talk to him and let you know though. When are you going down?

Yea not having a car makes it kind of tough, better spots are mostly driving distance. Check around Maria's too though. Places by Sandy's are all fairly close too.

yeah it doesnt have to be right on hte beach, just walking distance. im not old enough to rent a car and taking a taxi everywhere would end up costing too much

never been to pr and ecuador would be alot more expensive, to get there at least. im waiting on a friend ot hear if hes goin down to pr or not with another friend and his dad and if they do id have a place to stay with them and transportation.

id actually rather go back down to ecuador but i dont think i got enoguh money to do that

Y not PR? its easy trip and if you stay around sandys there are a bunch of spots to you can walk to and surf. only thing is ..I assume you are going during your school break?(when is that exactly?)  that means it will be crowded!! just something to pay attention to.. but if your like me you will get waves. I always tried to paddle out late morning and again around 2pm... if you paddle out after 4, you can forget about it cuz thats when everyone gets off of work and all the kooks go out cuz thy want a pretty sunset session... and when I surfed...I never sat where all the locals were..cuz I will never get a wave.. I actually surfed a little off the rock on the inside at marias..and got so many LEFTS ..I know...lefts!  they were short but fun...and had ramps at the end... anyway..Im sure youll have fun figuring it out.

i think that's the main reason - the crowds. hit central america and you can be surfing by yourself most of the time. for me, PR/DR makes sense when it's just a weekend, but if you've got a whole week, an extra hour or 2 in the plane and you can be somewhere a little more off the beaten path (and usually cheaper in terms of accomodations). i'm also not that familiar with how consistent that area is (PR / DR), but i've heard a lot of stories of skunk. i guess that depends on when you go... maybe march is a sure bet?

my friends been going in march for awhile now and always scored. march is when i first went down to tortola and scored that swell of hte century as well

i'll have to keep my eye on it. i love that area for the easy access from NY - can literally do a weekend, surf your brains out and make it back in time for work monday AM.
 
i think next weekend it's a cali run.... thank you onefin for keeping your eye on the forecast and letting me go away on valentine's day
