after taking a close look at it today noticed the glass looks so thin that i can pretty much see all of the fiberglass cloth throughout the entire board. Is this normal? there have always been spots around my PU boards--the rails, nose--where i could see the cloth, but this is way more apparent. I'm worried I just spent $700 on a board with a shity glass job.

What glass schedule did you go with? Does it look like its all unsaturated to where you can clearly see the weave? Peace, Kyle

I bought it off the rack so I dont know what the schedule is, but it looks thin. Yes, i can clearly see the weave throughout much of the board.

I'm confused, is it custom or off the rack? What do you mean by custom?

I mean not a pop-out. I bought a EPS Rusty toad, and unfortunately already tailpadded, waxed, and rode it. I will be so damn pissed off if thing falls apart on me after laying out that kind of money. It rode well, but I'm concerned about being able to see the weave like that.

Don't worry about that, epoxy dries super hard, and is much less ding resistant than poly. Just don't ding it, cuz then your farked. My experience with fixing my wife's M10 leaves me with the feeling that I will never buy an EPS board.

thanks. rusty claims the the beads are are so small and close that the EPS he uses barely takes on any more water than poly--we'll see.

Sounds like the hot coat was over sanded and they hit the weave in some parts. Is it a sanded finish or gloss and polish?

I have a custom eps board too, and I can see the glass the same way you described it. I have had the board for a year now and it is holding up great. Wouldnt worry about it.

Actually, eps is more ding resistant than poly, but less water resistant. At least my wife's M10 is like that.

so far so good. it seems pretty solid even though i can see the weave in some parts. I have to admit that it feels a little stiffer than the polys i'm used to.
