I'd probably be happy with consistent south shore but wanted to get any advice/thoughts.

There really is no off season in Hawaii. The Summer is typically marginal on the North Shore(although it's been chest-head+ the past few days) and chest-2 OH on the South shores(the 2 OH days are more rare than the chest high days but there's always a wave. During the Winter it's reversed(although the NS gets bigger than 2 OH fairly regularly). The Fall and Spring are in-between seasons where you're likely to get late/early Souths and late/early Norths.
As for September, you'll probably get a few days of overhead surf in the country and some chest to overhead days in town. You're unlikely to see very big surf that early in the season though.
Hope that helps.
PM me if you need additional input.

Not sure.
They open up in the swamp against Florida.
Last year June Jones referred to Tim Tebow as a "system quarterback" so the Gators will probably be running it up pretty high. By the time the Warriors are back home, they should be pretty hungry for a win. The D should be improved but they lose Brennan and a trio of good receicers so....can you say "rebuilding". But I'd say they still have a shot at contending for a WAC title and should scour enough wins together to be bowl eligible.

Jeah.

I watch all games at a troll hole in Waimanalo, and they can't come soon enough.

Who needs NFL when you got UH games.

Although I'm absolutely positive Ez_Ed will give me a hard time, you can almost always get surf where I am, I can hook you up with a board as well, well, as long as your a longboarder, although I'll have a couple shorter boards by then that we can talk about the use of (I'm on a caffine high). I'll PM you my number, and if you have any questions at all.

You got me all wrong, Jimbo. There's definitely waves there. The time I surfed with you was 2' with maybe some pluses and the other time was 3'+. It's probably rideable 90% of the time I'd guess but rarely 5'+. I'm speaking in Hawaiian scale so, yeah...it's a good call. It IS a bit windy being exposed to trades all day but if you can't have fun over there you're a jaded SOB.
Where I am I have to endure marginal/flat summers, although this past week has ranged from 2'-4'(waist to overhead) and I'm absolutely surfed out as I type this.

Let's catch a game this year, Jim. The Waialua star RB/Slot is a Freshman at Idaho in the Fall from what I hear so i'd like to catch that one. San Jose could be a good one too.

thanks for the info. I'm now basically trying to get the best deal I can get between sept and december, a pretty large range, and probably very big difference in surf. I'm not all that into big waves, or big crowds, so i'm probably better off in september than december.

Hell yeah, eddie, my truck was actually designed with tailgating in mind, so we'll hit it hawaiian styles.

That actually sounds like it'd be a great day, come up for dawn partrol, take a short nap before heading down to the game, stop at the pearl harbor commessary and stock up, live it up at the game,  crash on your couch, and then be there for another (yeah, i know, two days in a row) dawn patrol the next morning.... hell yeah.

They're telling me Monday might be go day for me, so keep your ears open.

Lone, it all depends on how much you stick your neck out there as far as getting the right waves with the right crowds. from the beginning to the end of the season, you can always find good waves for any level of surfer in the country but you have to realize a clean swell that lasts all the way through a saturday will bring a mob to the more well known spots.... there's always three other shores to explore though, and if you want to see the whole island, you'll score any time between september and december.

disclaimer: ma nature giveth and she taketh away, but as long as youre around for more then just a couple days, she'll probably keep you on your toes.;
