Which do you think will be better.  Senario 1 or Senario 2?

"with weak winds over the western Atlantic, Bertha could become virtually stationary by the weekend. "At the least, we can expect ocean swells and potentially dangerous rip currents this weekend along the Southeast coast.""

From hurricanetrack.com:

"I have had several emails today asking me about potential waves from Bertha. I will do some research as to what to expect in the coming days along the Southeast U.S. coast- it may be good times ahead for surfers!"

WHAT ABOUT THE NORTHEAST!!!

yeah we want it to weaken, but not too much where it passes even east of bermuda.  what we want is for it to weaken only minorly so that way the storm passes between the U.S. east coast and bermuda.  and then hopefully it stalls right in between the U.S. east coast and bermuda.  Grin  now that would make me happy Grin

Dont waste your time and money... The storm is allready approaching Floridas latitude on a NW heading, meaning the main swell is not being directed that way.

The track is looking less and less favorable. And this is a tiny tiny storm, The entire storm could fit in Typhoon Tips eyewall to put things in perspective. This not a good swell producer.

That said, it is a strong storm, and has been moving at us for some time, so I would expect at least some extended waist to head groundswell. Fun stuff but do not look for lineup shrinking macking sets. In fact, since this swell will have had plenty of time to spread out by the time it gets here I would suspect a good amount of time between sets and thus, a zoo. I would use this swell to do some exploring. This will be a very over hyped swell.

You're killin' my stoke, man...  Wink

It's still early...plenty of time for course changes, unexpected twists and turns, and the storm itself to expand. We'll see. In the meantime, I'm staying optimistic that the event itself, whatever it is, is going to coincide nicely with the weekend...

Nasty isn't here, but I think I know what he would say.

He would go into his vast repository of data and find every Cape Verde storm that achieved TS status prior to July 4, and illustrate it as a graph. From here, he would leave you to infer the dominant trend. Weather is all about trends. My guess is that the dominant trend (without seeing any data) would be for such a storm to get sheared to oblivion, but times may have changed.

Either way, the groundswell now being generated will eventually translate into some nice li'l peelers at a pretty sweet angle. What more can you ask for in July?
