Flying to Mexico on Continental. They want to charge me 95 bucks each way for my shortboards. Seems like BS when skis and snowboards are free. Anyone have any good ways to beat the system?

zero usually it's an embargo at this time of year that they don't let ANY boards go at all! Besides BA, pretty much Continental is one of the worst airlines for surfers. JetBlue took my 9'0 triple coffin for $25 each way Qantas is FREE, as is Air new Zealand Anyone want to start a class action suit?

Your best bet in this case is to do a curbside checking with the porters TIP WELL, as in $25, plus, if they say no ask outright if a bigger tip will help..
Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't

Boogs are free. Eff it, theres a billion surf shops to buy or rent from. Sucks but its better then adding $200.00 to the trip.

With Jetblue, it is $25 per board. I usually bring 3 boards in one bag with me, usually they only charge me for 1 board. If they don't charge the extra board pay for it both ways, if they do pay for it one way and hope you get lucky on the way back.
