So when last discussed, the Aviso people were taking their sweet time doing a photodocumentary on the repair of my board. They've had it since the mid part of January. (For a recap of the entire fateful event, click here)

3 weeks ago, the aviso people call to apologize that it's taking them so long to get things coordinated with the photog and the repairs completed, and offer to send out a dem0 - an identical board, except for color. who am I to argue, so i immediately agree.

Fast forward to noon today - the first real chance I've had to give her a spin - so I wax her up, pop a leash on her, and head out to a spot on the western end of the east part of town. 2 guys out....and there's WAVES. Onshore/sideshore, sure...but plenty of makeable well shaped WAVES.

First takeoff's a disaster - mostly because I was overanxious, as usual - but the second - holy mother of all that's good - the board just skims the surface and flies....it's like nothing I've ever ridden before. Two more quick waves in succession, easily the three best waves I've ridden this year - if it's possible for a board to max out whatever ability I have, it's this one.

I've got the dem0 until further notice, so anyone who wants to give her a spin, let me know. In the meantime, I'm trying to arrange an Aviso Dem0 Day with the Aviso Rep and a bunch of shapes in Long Beach and Belmar - hope it works out!

No, the tide was really full so I rode Ed Lover (my Anderson Evolver w/ Cheyne Horan starfin).
Now, that board is magic in mushy surf.

Bringing the Aviso to Mexico.
Any suggestions for avoiding wax melt-off?

Identical board, just in glossy black. 6'0" Lost RNF template.

Glossy black is a bitch to wax up, but once a good coat is on her, it's all good. No tail pad on her, would have really liked one yesterday.....but I made do without it..  Grin

Base coat wax? Pretty much the same thing as tropical I guess though.

Hahhaahhaaa....

Should be alright as long as you use tropical wax, and you keep the board deep in the shade when it's not in the water. I did alright with mine in PR once I realized what the deal was....
