From all of us at NYNJSurf.com and on behalf on Dean and the Dean Randazzo cancer Foundation, congratulations to

New Jersey's Paul Smith, as photographed by NJ Photographer Bob Paxson!!

Paul narrowly edged out NY's Steff Zellinger, NJ's Brendon Tighe, NY's Chris Dorado and a host of other competitors for the 2008 Little Nasty Cup!!

Congratulations also go out to the Worldwide Winner, Hawaii's Ed DeLamarter, who also narrowly edged Brandon Balabus, who was also surfing Hawaii;

and to the Womens Division Winner, NY's Katherine Moriwicki, who narrowly edged out NY's Elie Losloben!

Now, on to the important stuff -

When all the checks are received and the totals counted, we expect to have raised more than $4000 and perhaps as much as $5000 for Dean and the Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation! Every check received so far has been forwarded to Dean and the Foundation, and checks continue to arrive almost daily, so if you are a competitor and have not sent yours in, please get it in to us now!

To this point, the winner of The Little Nasty Silver Plate for the most money raised goes to Steff Zellinger, who raised an amazing $422!! "Voting" on this will continue until all competitors have submitted, so there's still time to swoop in and take the prize!

On behalf of Dean and the foundation, please accept our deepest thanks to ALL of the "Do it for Dean!" competitors, photographers and contributors for the extraordinary time, effort and generosity - all of that, combined with your thoughts and prayers mean the world to Dean and to others fighting cancer. Bless you all - its been an honor to have worked on this with all of you!

*********

My sincere thanks to Dean Randazzo and Kui Nakamura who served as the official judges, and to Kui for the mathematics!!

"Do it for Dean!" Little Nasty Cup Final Results:

First Place: Paul Smith, photographed by Bob Paxson, calculated total face height = 13.78ft

Second Place: Steff Zellinger, photographed by Jenn Eggleston, calculated total face height = 12.97

Third Place: Brendan Tighe, photographed by Mike Incitti, calculated total face height = 12.79

Fourth Place: Chris Dorado, photographed by Michael Rovnyak, calculated total face height = 11.29

For anyone curious, shoot Little_Nasty a PM - the guy is a mathematical genius - the breakouts are quite interesting, if you're into that kind of stuff.

Also, my deepest apologies to all for the dealy in an announcement.  For those in the know, it's been an extraordinarily difficult past couple of weeks with some personal family illness issues - but all is (hopefully) looking better now, and most important, we raised a ton for Dean and the foundation!

Thanks for posting the results. Congratulations all around.

And nice one to the ladies from Bungalow 8million for owning the hot chicks who surf category. Are we going to see the pics of their waves with the calculated heights?

Cool. Stoked to be a part of this whole thing. As I mentioned earlier, it was an honor and a privilege
to "Do It For Dean".
Thanks to Will and Kui for doing this.

Props to ALL who enterred-especially those of you surfing 10 ft+ waves in nasty cold east coast
conditions.
Special props to Steff for helping most with the cause(and for charging in his own right).

I'm in training now to "defend" the Worldwide Cup(haha). If I have to give it up next year, I hope it's to Dean
himself and we're trading some bombs at the "unnamed outer reef of dreams".

Aloha.

I'm tellin ya right now - if that scenario plays out, hold a spot for me in the lineup, I'll be on the next plane!!

That would be unreal.
It was going off out there this AM. Unfortunately I surfed a lesser but still pretty fun spot do to time constraints.

SeaCliff,

I had to stop by your board to give thanks and props to you for what has to be one of the most innovative and flexible formats for a surf contest ever.

I know Paul was stoked to be a part of it and even more stoked to have won. I was honored to have played a part as well.

Thanks to all the participants and photographers for giving to a great cause! And thanks to SeaCliff for his genius and time.

Get well Dean!!!

I'm so stoked to have been involved. It was a great excuse to take days off work whenever there was a good chance of size. My boss is very cool so I had told him about the "Do it for Dean" and he had pledged $.

Will,

I just sent you an email in case you check it before you get on here. I want to inform you that I did not take third place with my image. The image posted is not mine that belongs to Mike Incitti of NJ.

Thanks,

No worries, Chris - I'll make the correction, and apologies to Mike! That said, your photos are amazing! We're great fans of yours around here, Chris, always look forward to seeing your work!
