perfect example how leftists (sometimes intentionally, mostly ignorantly) distort 9/11 to fit their own delusionally flawed worldviews. Yup those the Islamic Fundamentalists sure struck a blow on 9/11, defending all those women and gays in the Islamic countries from Western captialist oppression.
Yup ... it's those bloody leftists that have distorted 9/11 to fit their world views ... you've got your hand on it.

This is pretty insane. 50% of the people here think the US planned it? Is everyone else not voting?  I really thought maybe 5% believe in the conspiracy theories. Either way this is truly fascinating.

Not for nothin', but only 25 people voted.  I would hardly call that a representative sample.  Additionally, did it occur to you that maybe people vote 'yes' because they wanted to see your head explode?

^ I have to say I voted yes just to pee JPI off a little, I don't really believe the US planned it  but I do believe the CIA trained the people that planned it to do that to the Reds and that very training  came back to bite us back in the arse.

First off my head isn't exploding. It didn't even explode when my friend told me about his conspiracy theories the other day. Only you have the ability to make chili con carne pour out of my ears.

And I know that this isn't a scientifically accurate representation of anything, and I'm sure some voted YES just to rile people up, and a lot of NOs didn't bother to vote, but a few of the YESs must be serious and even that's pretty surprising to me. Doesn't make me angry or anything, but it's a real eye opener.

Your clever connection is a perfect example how rightist or whateverist you are can distort my objective by putting two of my posts toghether and calling your creation my objective, pretty clever, i gotta tell ya'.
If you would have paid attention to the post, my view is  that the 9/11 attacks are an attack on capitalism. The gay, women, and voting rights comment was in response to Justin PI question for Freedom lacking aspects of America. But you wouldn't understand that because you are too busy Leftist bashing to involve yourself in an intellectual dialogue.
Pay attention and you might learn something actually instaed of inventing other peoples views. Tongue

Dude, I was going to let it go but, Jeeeeeee wiz.  you just don't shut up long enough to think.  You claim that you don't have the freedom to marry as hetereosexuals do.  Try simply being gay in an Islamic country.  Try getting an abortion in an Islamic country.  Better yet just try needing an abortion in an Islamic country.  You had better hope that you are the father not the mother.  And to answer one of your questions..... no, abortion is not a legal issue.  The Supreme Court has determined that.  You may have read about Roe v. Wade.  Does everybody agree with that decision?  NO!  Are there those that are trying to change the law of the land?  YES!  That my young friend is what makes this country free.  The founding fathers allowed for the possiblity that things would need to change, and if the majority wants that change it can happen.  FYI if you want to change something about this country, this is probably the wrong forum for you.

That was good da Kook, but can you refrain from speaking with such a hostile attitude. I encourage your opinion in this conversation, but your old man attitude keeps coming out. Why do you keep comparing arab countries to America. I am not comparing America to other countries to see how "good we have it" I am simply saying there there is room for improvement in AMERICA! Stop comparing us to other countries to make yourself feel better about America. Like I said before eating dirt is better than sh*t, but in the end your still eating dirt.
If you must compare countries, why don't you compare America to a country that is more similiar, rather than an islamic country?
I think your right about this being the wrong forum, I'm not tryin to change somethin about this country on the forum, I'm just trying to have a discussion! Its really impossible to do that with hard headed knuckle headed guys like you on it.

The old man thing doesn't faze me so you might want to try something else.  I did not EVER compare the US to an arab country.  I compared it to Islamic countries.  There is a distinct difference.  Yes, there is room for improvement in the US.  Vast amounts of room for improvement.  The difference is that we can make the changes the are needed/desired without an armed militia overthrowing the government du jour.  I do not need to compare us to any other country to make myself feel better about the US.  You on the other hand have not made a single positive comment about the US.

I ain't trying to faze you old man, I'm trying to have a decent conversation about global politics and you can't seem to get a grip and talk like a gentlemen about things. Ok, ISlamic countries, why must you compare America with islamic countries to prove how good we got it? Can you speak of the problems in America without comparing us in general? We do make changes, needs and desires by protest and speaking out, expressing ones opinion!
I think you got thewrong forum if you are expecting people to say good things about America. But now that you got me, Heres a good thing, Tony Danza and Bowling!
You should start a topic that says good things about America. Grin

you said "capitalism was "THE (emphasis mine) source of oppression in other parts of the world" and that 9/11 was an attack on this source of oppression. That is a flatly wrong statement on several levels, and it represents an attempt to frame the events to fit your own  agenda. Just like Pat Robertson saying 9/11 was god's payback for letting gays go to Disneyland or whatever dreck oozed from his mouth that time and Bush saying now that we got hit by Arabs we gotta go invade and occupy Iraq. Its so dishonorable.

I quoted your second post to illustrate the weakness of your preceding assertion that 9/11 was an act against oppression. I am not comparing America with Arab countries. I am using your contrived concern for women and gays as a platform for a comparison of Free market Capitalism with Religious Authoritarianism (be it Islamic Jewish or Christian)

I don't need to be some cheerleader for the USA to point out that you're an ignorant fool. I hate more things about this country than I like. I personally think the US is these days far less oriented towards the free market / socially liberal model (i.e. Holland, Canada) than I'd like us to be.

Thank you for your comment, I actually agree with alot of what you had to say, but "ignorant fool" and USA chearleader? Pretty creative but lacking. I think that you should attempt to hear more about my theory on the target being capitalism and the way in which it ties into the Holy War. Interesting comparison, comparing my view to Pat Robertson and W Bush. I never thought about it like that, thanks for the opening up that door for me to ponder about.
My second post had nothing to do with any other country accept America. America's freedom and America's freedom only. Canada and Holland are great examples of a place i'd like America to be at.
Thanks for the comment, its ok. Ignorant fool isn't that bad, I've been called much worse for expressing my theories. I thought that it would be a lot harsher here considering we aren't face to face. Peace Brotha keep up the good posts and next time call me something more creative, remember you don't have to call me names to my face, its easier and more fun!

I believe that our government at the time was incompetent.
Murderous? no.  Incompetent yes.
And not just Bush Sr and Jr. but Bill Clinton as well.
Yes they may have prevented 100 of attacks we don't know about.
But actually I doubt that.  I don't doubt that their policies have provoked 100 of attacks though.

I also believe that the idea that the people hired to protect us (CIA, NSS, FBI) are slightly blinded by either their right wing thinking, or their own religious beliefs to be unable to truly understand "How" our enemies think.  And yes even though I make no bones about being pretty liberal, they are our enemies.

Its a war that will not be won in a conventional Western way.  We as a nation will have to convince a generation of martyrs, that they will not be going to heaven when the bomb goes off.  Neither will their families or friends.  Until that happens the war will continue.  We will have to show that tolerance has some virtues.  But first of course we would have to convince our own people of that as well.

On the other hand how far would Bush /Cheney Corp. go to make a buck?
Why do you think he wants to keep pumping up our already very full oil reserves? Even though every economist is saying "Hey stop that"..?

because we're running out of it, and whoever has enough reserve will be able to wage war and dominate the rest of the world....like in the movies!  Tongue
