About “The Reading Room”
Welcome to The Reading Room on NYNJSurf.com!
We hope you enjoy this room as much as we do! On first glance, we’d hope that this becomes a place that fuels our collective stoke for surfing through charts, graphs, and words. In time we think it will become much more than that - a place where we’re preserving the history of surfing in New York and New Jersey, by archiving some of the great stories of surfers and surfing in and around our region, with the occasional look at some of our local surfers adventures and experiences at locations more distant.
You’ll find original works here, contributed by talented writers like JoeMac and others, with some stories culled from our own archives in our “Stories of Stoke” room or other rooms on our message board. Additionally, we’ll archive the ever growing amazing collection of charts and graphs that tell the story of our surf history, as produced and published by our resident forecasting guru, little_nasty. Periodically, we’ll add in some quotes about surf and surfing, creating what we hope becomes a small catalog of stoke, just for the fun of it. In time, we hope to gain reprint permission from authors for various stories and articles on surfing in our region that have been previously published in some of the well known major publications, and preserve them here.
