Rating the Surf - How do the months compare?

Using a ranking scale of 1 to 6+, where 1 is flat or marginal surf and anything 6+ is epic, here’s a composite look at how the months compare by looking at the percentage of days in each ranking. Data is compiled from retrospective analysis, 1996-2005.

Groundswell from a Southern Hemi?

There’s a trace SE groundswell showing at ~15.3s (already decayed quite a bit.. first hit the buoy at 17.9s)… pretty long and that angle is a straight shot to the southern hemisphere.. just food for thought.

Just how flat is the month of June In NY/NJ, Historically?

Pretty flat. Historically, 17.7 days of the 30 day month rated a zero, 9.4 days rating a 1; and only 2.9 days on average rated a 2 or higher, and the majority of those were only a 2.

August Category 3 Hurricanes (overall) and Cape Verde Hurricanes

and when we look at those generated from the verdes - there’s some good names in there…
