Prestoke Jitters.
I can feel it now, even as I type.
Prestoke Jitters.
There really is nothing like the feeling. I'm sure all surfers around the world feel it when there's an impending major swell, but maybe, just maybe it's magnified for us here on the east coast where the swell events are less frequent and so short-lived. Whatever it is, it's something magical, something unique, something special. It's a feeling that is born of pure passion and pure love of what we do, rolled into an emotional ball of intense anticipation.
Regardless, I love this feeling. LOVE it. With each impending swell event, I get to carry it around with me through every meeting, through every minor and major part of my day - there's no escape from the feeling. Nights are equally jittery - I'll wake up and I can smell the ocean and even the smell and feel of the wax as it goes on my board, and I'll try and will the impending swell to arrive quickly and live up to the hype, all the while with thoughts of duckdives and long rides and barrels dancing in my head.
But it's daytime when it's most powerful - sometimes I'll get so caught up in the busy world that it will momentarily escape my mind just why I'm so jittery, but very quickly the thought returns and the stupid grin will run across my face, like a kid knowing, just KNOWING that the bike and the sled are going to be under the tree come Christmas morning.

God I love surfing. I can't wait.
